Volers VRS-HD5363 + LVDS to MIPI Interface Board |
Q1: Can the Volers VRS-HD5363 connect to the HD Interface Board independently developed by our company for image output?
A1: The successful image output connection between the VRS-HD5363 and the HD Interface Board is subject to the following three prerequisites:
Interface Compatibility: The Volers VRS-HD5363 supports the LVDS interface, and the HD Interface Board independently developed by our company also adopts a LVDS interface design (with consistent signal definitions and power supply protocols). The two devices can be directly connected to realize seamless video conversion, transmission and processing.
Protocol Support: Our company’s HD Interface Board is integrated with VISCA protocol or PELCO-D/P protocol. Since the VRS-HD5363 is compatible with the same protocols, it enables remote control of the camera (such as focus adjustment and exposure level adjustment) via the interface board, which significantly enhances system flexibility.
Resolution & Frame Rate Matching: Both the VRS-HD5363 and our company's HD Interface Board support identical video output formats, including 1080p 60(50)/30(25)fps, 1080i 60(50)fps, 720p 60(50)/30(25)fps and other common specifications.
Q2: When the VRS-HD5363 visible light camera switches from black-and-white (night vision) mode to color mode, a red frame flashes briefly. What causes this phenomenon?
A2: The temporary red frame flash that occurs when the VRS-HD5363 visible light camera switches back to color mode from black-and-white (night vision) mode is usually not a device malfunction. Instead, it is determined by the operational characteristics of its core dual-filter switching mechanism.
The root cause lies in the timing delay of physical filter switching:
Color Mode: The IR-CUT filter moves in front of the sensor to block infrared light, ensuring accurate color rendering of visible light.
Black-and-White (Night Vision) Mode: The IR-CUT filter is moved away, and the full-transmission filter activates to allow all light rays (including infrared light emitted by fill lights) to enter the sensor, enhancing night vision brightness.
Detailed Causes of the "Red Flash" Phenomenon
When the VRS-HD5363 switches from black-and-white mode to color mode, the switch moves the full-transmission filter away and relocates the IR-CUT filter back in front of the sensor.
This physical switching process takes an extremely short period (typically tens to over a hundred milliseconds). During this transition, the sensor may be in a state of "no filter in place" or "uncertain filter position".
At this moment, the sensor receives full-spectrum light containing a large amount of infrared rays. Given that the sensor’s Bayer array is sensitive to red/infrared spectra, the image signal processor (ISP) will generate a temporary, abnormal color calculation when it detects changes in lighting conditions but the IR-CUT filter has not yet been fully positioned. This results in a brief red or magenta flash in the final displayed image.
Summary & Recommendations
This is a normal phenomenon: it is a common characteristic of the VRS-HD5363 and other cameras adopting the physical IR-CUT switching mechanism. It is a natural result of the minor delay between physical movements and electronic processing, and does not affect the final imaging quality after the switching process is completed.
